Should I text him or not bother?

I'm 13, and there's this guy who I've liked for almost a year. We met in ccd, he approached me and asked where I was from and all, so I thought he was maybe interested. I think he does that to a lot of girls though. Ccd is done now and we never talk. The only time we did talk was through a text for 3 hours or so, but his friends make fun of me. I really want to talk to him, but I don't want to sound creepy because the truth is I got his number from a friend (me and him go to different schools) and I think that freaked him out! Advice?
