How to get video off of sony HI-8 camcorder?

I have an older sony HI-8 camcorder it is a ccd-trv318, it only has an s-video out on it, and i need to get the tape transfered to my pc, i can get a s-video to usb cable, but will this work? i have adobe premiere and thats what i usually use to get the video off of my Canon HV-40, but thats Mini-dv and i use fire wire for that. any suggestions?
