Is it necessary to take confirmation?

first before i get into more details i want to ask what is confirmation and is it really necessary to take it because i don't finish ccd until i reach sophomore year in hs. so do i really need to take it because i feel that i don't really have the time for ccd anymore also my parents sent me to ccd since the 3rd grade and i i'll complete the rest of my ccd well for this level but don't feel like completing the rest and nice comments please thanks!!! and one more thing how can i break the news to my parents bout this??
