Massive decision. Input wanted.?

If staying another year would allow you to get into your first choice university I would say do it! You don't want to be stuck at a school that you're not happy with because you didn't try as hard as you could the first year. I don't see any problems with trying again so long as you can afford it and don't mind being in school for an extra year.
