How efficient are coal burning stoves?

I only have room in my unfinished basement for a coal burning stove. Is it possible that a 105,000 BTU Direct Vent Keystoker Coal stove will generate enough heat to radiate upward and warm the rest of my house? My freind has a Coal stove in his living room and it heats the whole house nicely. I do not have the luxury of adding a stove anywhere but my basement. I would appreciate any advice. As the cost of energy is really starting to hurt.
